About
Funded under the European Union’s 7th Framework Programme, GENOVATE @UCC is one of seven partner Universities in the cross-European GENOVATE Consortium.
The other partners are the University of Bradford, Lulea University of Technology, Ankara University, Università degli Studi di Napoli, Trnava University in Trnava and University of Madrid.
A core objective of the GENOVATE Consortium is the promotion of gender equality within its partner universities* through an action-research process.
Towards this objective, the GENOVATE@UCC team, supported by the Consortium, developed a Gender Equality Action Plan for UCC. The Plan includes nine gender equality actions, eight of which the University Management Team committed to implementing at its meeting on the 17 September 2015.
The nine actions are complemented and reinforced by tools for supporting implementation.
Both the actions and the tools are informed by the following:
- an intra-organisational investigation—or gender equality assessment—of policy and practice;
- the technical knowledge and expertise of cross-European GENOVATE Consortium partners; and
- a rigorous review and analysis of international policy and practice.
GENOVATE@UCC has since continued to engage to transform the university’s commitments into action and ensure this continues beyond the end of the project; the project @UCC concluded on April 30, 2017.
