A new portable Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) system developed at Tyndall has been successfully deployed at the Generic Integrated Forensic Toolbox (GIFT) project’s chemical exercise in Vilvoorde, Brussels, Belgium, where the on-site detection of an organophosphate (nerve agent) simulant was achieved.

The illustrious Bell Labs Prize was awarded to Kaushik Sengupta, Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering at Princeton University, for his invention of a radical new transceiver chip technology that could power a truly universal software-defined reconfigurable radio.

Today saw 67 students graduate with BSc (Hons) degrees in Chemistry, Chemistry of Pharmaceutical Compounds, Chemistry with Forensic Science, Science (Chemistry) Education and Chemical Physics.

The 4th George Guilbault Symposium was hosted at Tyndall National Institute on Wednesday 11th October.

Congratulations to PhD student Paul Buckley, who was awarded a best poster prize at the European Aerosol Conference held in Zurich, 27^th August – 1^st September 2017.

Dr Colm O’Dwyer, School of Chemistry and PI, Applied Nanoscience Group, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2017 Nokia Bell Labs Prize.

We are delighted that the formation of a School of Chemistry was approved by UCC’s Governing Body on 13 June 2017.
