Students must be capable of achieving the following competencies and outcomes by graduation:
- Undertake clinical assessment of a patient, including history taking, examination and recording of
- Interpret findings from history, examination and investigations to develop a management
- Undertake a range of clinical
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills; verbal and non-verbal, written and electronic.

In addition to these competencies, students must also fulfil the requirements of the CORU Radiographers Registration Board (RRB) in order to be able to register as Radiation Therapists when they graduate. Students must be capable of demonstrating the following competencies and outcomes by graduation:
1) Demonstrate personal initiative, autonomy, and accountability
a) ability to recognise personal responsibility for one’s actions and be able to justify reasons for professional decisions
b) Respect the confidentiality of patients, whilst understanding the limits of confidentiality particularly in relation to child protection, vulnerable adults, and elder abuse.
c) Understand the importance of incident reporting and management (including radiation incidents) and be familiar with relevant policies.
d) Practise safely and effectively within their scope of practice.
e) Know the limits of their practice and recognise the need for consultation and/or supervision.
2) Communicate effectively and work in partnership with patients, their relatives, and other professionals
a) Provide patients (or people acting on their behalf) with the information necessary, in an appropriate format to enable them to make informed decisions regarding treatment.
3) Demonstrate continual personal and professional development through ongoing reflective practice.
4) Demonstrate the appropriate knowledge, understanding and skills to provide quality service to patients.
a) Demonstrate competency in all areas of patient set-up and patient care, including selection and rationalisation of treatment techniques appropriate to the patient’s disease management.
b) Demonstrate competency in management of workload in the clinical area.
c) Participate in verification image review.
d) Demonstrate clinical reasoning in routine and complex situations
e) Use research, reasoning, and problem-solving skills to determine appropriate action.

- Collaborate within interdisciplinary teams in the rehabilitation of older people;
- Describe models and settings of rehabilitation within healthcare systems;
- Discuss multidisciplinary team working in older person rehabilitation;
- Describe an area of specialised rehabilitation in an older person;
- Participate in class discussions on rehabilitation of an older person.
MSCCPL: MSc. In Clinical Measurement Physiology
- Undertake clinical assessment of a patient, as appropriate to the investigation(s) to be conducted and recording of clinical details in a structured and accurate manner.
- Perform the requested investigations, in a structured and appropriate manner, ensuring that the patient is informed of the conduct of the test, respectful of the patient’s comfort, privacy and safety and ensuring that the testing is undertaken following best practice.
- Work in a collegial manner with medical supervisor(s) overseeing investigations undertaken, specifically following direction regarding detailed conduct of investigations.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills; verbal and non-verbal, written and electronic.
- Relate to patients in a professional manner based on mutual respect, confidentiality, honesty, responsibility and trust.
- Co-operate with colleagues and work effectively with healthcare professionals from other disciplines and with other healthcare workers for the benefit of patients.
