UNIC Staff Week hosted at University of Łódź

Simone O’Rourke, Research Project Manager at UCC, attended the UNIC Staff Week hosted at University of Łódź on 5-7 May 2026 under the theme „Supporting those who support others – taking care of wellbeing and professional skills of experts”.

The three-day event provided an opportunity for staff from partner universities to meet, share ideas, and build a sense of community. Simone found it a “great opportunity to connect with colleagues from Oulu, Deusto, Zagreb and Łódź.”  

As well as enabling strategic connections, the event’s sessions and workshops covered areas of common thematic interest within the UNIC alliance, such as sessions on gender mainstreaming and intersectionality which provided an introduction to and foundations of UNIC’s ‘Superdiversity’ thematic line.” 

The sessions also provided insights on communication across generations. Simone found a session by Dr Joanna Fraczek Broda on her research on Gen Z “invaluable for anyone working in Higher Education.”
