STEPS Engineering Your Future (STEPS EYF) is an engineering experience that gives Transition Year students a hands-on, fun and practical insight into engineering at third level and as a career. 

Each in-person experience is held over 3-5 days. During your experience, you will attend interactive talks and presentations, get hands-on experience with group-based activities, visit local industry and meet qualified engineers at various stages in their careers. 

The programme is coordinated by the Engineers Ireland STEPS programme and is hosted by third-level institutes and industry around Ireland.

STEPS EYF Virtual Experience will open for applications from September 2026 to January 2027. 

STEPS EYF In-person will open for applications from November 2026. 

Last year's fees for this three-day experience were €25. Students attending a DEIS school were not charged a fee.

This three-day TY Programme at UCC will give students a taster of the Engineering disciplines offered at UCC through interactive workshops and talks. These disciplines are: 

• Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering
• Energy Engineering
• Electrical and Electronic Engineering
• Process and Chemical Engineering.

Students will also visit UCC's state of the art Beaufort Building and National Ocean Test Facility, which is closely aligned with the School of Engineering and Architecture.
