About the UCC Entrance Scholarship Awards Ceremony 2025
The University will present its Entrance Scholarships at two special ceremonies on Wednesday 3 December 2025.
- 3.30pm: College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences, College of Science, Engineering and Food Science
- 6.00pm: College of Business and Law, College of Medicine and Health
Each ceremony will take approximately 1 hour.
UCC Entrance Scholarships Awards 2025
168 Entrance Scholarships were awarded to first year students in University College Cork on Wednesday, 3 December 2025.
The scholarships were awarded based on students’ outstanding achievement in their Leaving Certificate examination or equivalent. 136 students scored a maximum of 625 points.
The scholarships included 11 BEd Gaeilge scholarships, 5 Mary Ryan Language scholarships, 1 BT Young Scientist & First Year Technology scholarships, 2 Kavanagh Celtic Civilization scholarship and 1 Naughton scholarships which was awarded by the Naughton Foundation. Students represented eighty-two schools in Ireland and one school in Germany.
Dr Jennifer Murphy opened the Ceremony. The Welcome Address was given by Professor John O’Halloran, President of UCC.
The keynote address was given by Cian Walsh and Sumaya Mohammed, both Quercus Talented students. The music was provided by Iona Ritchie and Molly Pittendrigh, also Quercus Talented students.
The President congratulated the scholarship recipients and encouraged them to
‘make each day count by contributing to the world – participating, serving, leading’.
He asked students to broaden their horizons and to seek out every opportunity for learning that would ‘add value to their worldview’.
The ceremony was attended by family, friends and teachers together with the UCC academic community.
