Abstract

This interview places Martinican literary giant, Patrick Chamoiseau, in conversation with the latest newcomer to Martinican literature, Michael Roch, examining the intergenerational connections between these two writers and highlighting certain similarities and discrepancies between their respective literary approaches. What emerges from this conversation is that through the Afrofuturist nature of his work, Roch is steering Franco-Caribbean literature in a new direction, extending the literary landscape of the region to embrace innovative and speculative imaginaries.
