FHI Supplementary Travel Fund
Overview
Future Humanities Supplementary Travel Fund 2024-2025
Applications to this fund are invited using the relevant application form. Eligible members of staff may, in other words, apply for funding both 2024-2025, though, as the terms and conditions state, may receive only €500 in total in any given academic year.
You must have received confirmation from CACSSS that your initial research travel application has been funded. This fund is meant to supplement the 500 euros available from CACSSS where the cost of travel is more than 500 euros. We cap this support to a further 500 euros in order to distribute it more widely.
Terms and Conditions
- Permanent and fixed-term academic staff from Schools, Departments and Disciplines in Schedule I of the College Rules are eligible to apply, as long as the project for which they are applying aligns with the arts and humanities thematic areas (though applications that are interdisciplinary and collaborate outside of the arts and humanities, but that remain grounded in a humanities subject area in the first instance, are also welcome).
- Holders of postdoctoral fellowships will be eligible to apply for these funds only where the project through which they are funded does not include any budget for relevant research supports. In making applications, postdoctoral fellows and principal investigators are requested to confirm in writing that such support is not provided by the research funder.
- Applications for funding will be processed by the Future Humanities Institute Executive. The maximum award will be €500 per staff member in any twelve-month period.
- Applications must demonstrate that the grant, if awarded, will support and enhance both the career development of the applicant and the international research profile of the College. Applications must be supported by Heads of School. Heads of School should seek the signature of the Head of College in making applications.
- Grants may Research visits will also be prioritised provided these are linked to projects leading to planned publications. As funding depends on research overheads, the availability of this support cannot be guaranteed in any given year.
- Applications must be presented on the appropriate application form. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
- Applicants are required to demonstrate that where possible they have applied for alternative and/or supplementary funding (from relevant School/Department/Discipline funds, relevant funding bodies, etc.).
- Any funding which is granted must be expended and claimed by 30 September 2025. If funds are not used within these periods, the grant will expire and cannot subsequently be claimed.
- For approved grants, an expense claim must be submitted through Agresso. Expenditure must be vouched, including proofs of payment.
