Microbes to Molecules

The Microbes to Molecules theme is focused on the discovery and characterization of pharmabiotics, mechanism of probiotic action, gut commensal colonisation and interaction, and the impact of glycans on gut microbiota composition and metabolism of selected gut commensals.
Research Aims:
- To develop bacteriocins as pharmabiotics
- To explore bacteriophage and the phageome
- To further characterise the mode of action of selected probiotics
- To determine the influence of non-digestible carbohydrates on microbiome composition with particular reference to bifidobacteria
