Diet and Microbes
The Diet and Microbes theme is focused on the impact of diet and fibre on the gut microbiota and changes which occur to the microbiota from initiation of life during pregnancy and the months and years after birth, and also the changes that occur to gut microbiota in old age and factors impacting on its composition and functionality.
Research Aims:
- To rationally modify the microbiome of older people
- To develop the intestinal microbiota as a target for therapeutics for age-related cancer
- To explore the links between early infant microbiome, infant nutrition and health
