President John O’Halloran welcomed the Ambassador of France, H.E. Mr Vincent Guérend, and a delegation from the Embassy of France, to UCC on Monday, 8 May 2023.

UCC recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate to Dr Katalin Karikó for her pioneering mRNA research, which led to the BioNTech/Pfizer and Moderna vaccines against COVID-19.

The ecology and conservation of birds were the focus of a national conference hosted by President John O'Halloran at UCC this weekend. On Wednesday 8 March, President John O’Halloran engaged in a Fireside Conversation with Dr Claire O’Connell, Science Communicator and contributor to The Irish Times, as part of Accenture’s annual celebration of International Women’s Day.

UCC recently played host to the winners of the 59th BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition (BTYSE). The BTYSE is one of the world’s longest running science exhibitions for young people and UCC President Professor John O’Halloran has been a judge for the event since 2000.

University College Cork and Queen’s University Belfast have established Ireland’s first all-island network dedicated to delivering on the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

On 7 February, UCC published its five-year strategic plan, Securing Our Future. The plan will see a step change in research impact at the university, its evolution as the university of choice for postgraduate education with the development of exciting new postgraduate programmes, widening student access to higher education and creating the first dedicated sustainability and climate action office in Ireland’s higher education sector.

Today, UCC and the Crann Centre in Ballincollig signed a community partnership agreement that will see them work together to advance care for families living with neuro-physical disabilities. This collaboration will not just impact locally, but will benefit families all around the world.
