Session 1. What is a Text-Readable PDF?

In this 15-minute presentation, Sophie will go through the accessibility reasons for making a PDF text-readable. By the end of the webinar, you should be able to recognise unreadable documents and how to rectify this issue. An extra 15 minutes will be kept for questions and comments after the demo.
Session 2. Common PDF Issues

In this 30 minute session, we will talk you through the most common accessibility issues in PDFs. Namely, the Five Ts:
- Tables
- Tiered Headings
- Text for Images
- Tags
- Text Contrast
The focus of this session will be documents that are not originally your own work. We will look at how to convert them to Word so that the issues can be remediated. Copyright and Disability Laws will be referenced.
Session 3. Starting in Word

This one hour, hands-on, session will cover how to create an accessible PDF, by starting in the original Word document. Options such as heading styles, Alt Text, hyperlinks, and tables will be explored. Best practice when saving the file as a PDF will be included.
Session 4. Remediation in Acrobat Pro DC

This one-hour advanced session is aimed at users of Acrobat Pro DC (licensed), who wish to remediate accessibility issues using the app. By the end of the session, you should know how to tag elements of a PDF, such as tables, figures, lists, and headings. You will also learn how to adjust Alt Text and links from within Acrobat.
