About Opal Productions

Opal Productions is a collective of creatives who came together as producers under the MA in Arts Management and Creative Producing at the Department of Theatre in University College Cork. As their collective passion for the arts was ignited in October, its birthstone, the opal, represented their unity. Through their festival Out of Orbit, the dynamic team of twelve creatives wish to inspire, encourage hope and create equilibrium in a time of uncertainty. From America, to Greece, to Ireland, each of the twelve producers brought their own diverse experiences to Opal Productions and the twelve events in the programme reflect their unique personalities. Never having met in person and faced with the challenge of curating and producing an entire festival remotely, this was their opportunity to venture out of orbit. The festival as a whole too embodies an opal’s virtues - rarity; creativity; freeing inhibitions; and hope. Its flow and movement, also speak to the motion of an orbit as a flux, personifying that we are no longer following the repeating path we once knew.
