Colin Dunne appointed Traditional Artist in Residence 2017/18
03 Oct 2017The College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences (UCC) and the School of Music and Theatre (UCC), in association with The Arts Council, announce the appointment of the internationally renowned performer and teacher, Colin Dunne, as the Traditional Artist in Residence at University College Cork 2017-18. Dunne will deliver a series of concerts, workshops, and classes over the course of his 1-year residency, beginning in October.

JJ Riordan creates viral music videos using found sound
20 Apr 2017JJ Riordan is a composer, performer and student on the MA in Ethnomusicology programme at UCC. JJ recently accepted a challenge to make a beat using a pug owned by a friend. The result was a music video that was picked up by social media channels, receiving almost 4m views. JJ has since gone on to make similar 'found sound' videos with subjects including a mini cooper, his family farm, and the Music Building at UCC.

FUAIM is very proud to present the winners of this year's Donal 'Doc' Gleeson Awards for undergraduate performance. They are Rebecca Saich, Ricky Kelleher, Ciara McGarrigle and Conor Soltan.
In memory of their colleague, Donal Gleeson, the Dublin Postal Clerks Branch of the Communication Workers' Union has established a fund to enable the University to provide a number of Instrumental Tuition Awards. Up to four awards are made each year to deserving undergraduate music students. This week's Friday lunchtime concert will feature four short performances by Rebecca, Ricky, Ciara and Conor, including Irish traditional, popular, Western Art and Indian classical musics.
