Heery Francis
Biography
Francis Heery (b. 1980) is an Irish composer, researcher and sound artist. He holds a Ph.D in Composition (University College Cork) and an M.Phil. in Music and Media Technologies (Trinity College Dublin). He studied composition with Donnacha Dennehy, John Godfrey and Jesse Ronneau. He writes for both electronic and instrumental media.
His research interests broadly encompass the aesthetics of 20
th
and 21
st
century composition. Points of particular interest are the music of Morton Feldman and Horatiu Radulescu, Spectral music, compositional rhetoric, and the links and divergences between music and language.
His instrumental works have been performed by international players such as: the JACK Quartet, Carin Levine, Pascal Gallois, Kate Ellis, the Talujon Percussion Ensemble, the Quiet Music Ensemble, and the Crash Ensemble. His electronic music is released on Lamour Records, farpoint Recordings and Fort Evil Fruit.
