The Student Grant Scheme is the main financial support available for eligible students attending full-time programmes at UCC. It is overseen by the Department of Education and Skills and is administered by SUSI. All new applicants to the Scheme apply to https://www.susi.ie/

It is your responsibility to ensure that your grant application, whether renewal or first time, is complete and fully submitted to SUSI within the deadline.

How does UCC receive my SUSI Grant Details?

If your SUSI grant application is approved, SUSI will notify UCC. UCC receives weekly files from SUSI with information about student grant awards.

  • Files arrive on Monday
  • UCC sends updates back to SUSI by Thursday

Please note: You do not need to send your SUSI award letter to UCC.

When Will My Grant Be Applied?

Grants notified in August/September & October will be applied to student fee accounts at the start November. Subsequent awards are applied as they are received on a weekly basis.

Who manages my maintenance payments?

UCC’s role is limited to confirming your registration. We do not manage maintenance payments. We confirm registrations as quickly as possible.

Common reasons for delayed maintenance payments:

  • Changed University/other Institution but didn’t update SUSI about this change
  • Missing or incorrect bank account details
  • Application still inactive or pending
  • Grant rate has changed

Before contacting the Student Hub or the Fees Office:

  • Ensure your SUSI letter lists UCC as your University
  • Confirm that your grant includes maintenance payments
  • Check your bank details on the SUSI website
  • If you have checked all the above and still have a query about your maintenance payment, please contact the SUSI support desk by phone: 0818 888 777 Outside of Ireland: +353 1 524 2257 or by email: support@susi.ie

What happens if my grant rate changes?

Your grant rate can change at any time, even retroactively.

  • SUSI will send you a new letter if your rate changes
  • UCC receives these updates weekly

UCC will apply changes but SUSI will notify you of the rate change directly.

How do I get a refund?

If you are due to a refund of fees paid as a result of your SUSI payment, it will be processed after UCC has received the fee payment from SUSI. You may receive an email to your student email account in relation to this (Should we require bank details.)

How do I get a letter confirming whether I am eligible for FFI for SUSI?

If you require confirmation for SUSI on whether you are eligible for FFI (Initiative/Free tuition fees), please Log a Fee Query
