IELTS is used frequently to ascertain a student's ability to study in an English speaking university, or to work and live in an English speaking environment.
The fee for the IELTS examination is €185. This course is not free for Erasmus students. For more information on exam dates and how to apply see the documents located at the top of this page, or visit the Dates and How to Apply section. If payments are not made out to The Language Centre, UCC, your application can not be processed.

It will analyse and practise the language skills and examination techniques required to perform to a high standard in each of these papers. Individual feedback on written and spoken performance will be provided focusing on the use of vocabulary, range and accuracy of grammar and pronunciation skills. Ideas for further study will also be given. Participants on the course will have additional free access to the language laboratory in the Language Centre while attending the course.
The course prepares students who are aiming for a score between 6 and 7.5 in the Academic Module. The months where the General Module is offered, the course is also open to candidates preparing for the General and Academic modules. General Module candidates are accepted if they are looking to improve on an IELTS score of 5.5. You can come to the Language Centre to take a placement test to establish your level if you have not previously taken the IELTS examination.
