The Virtual Labs HCI P3 Initiative Team were presented with the RSC Team Prize for Excellence in Higher Education 2025 on Friday, the 10th of April.

Researchers from the School of Chemistry and Sustainability Institute are leading efforts to understand the sources of air pollution in towns across Ireland.

The School of Chemistry at University College Cork was delighted to host its Annual Poster Session on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, in the magnificent surroundings of the Aula Maxima. The event brought together students, researchers, and academic staff in a vibrant showcase of scientific excellence, with posters reflecting the exceptional breadth and depth of research activity across the School.

Congratulations to our MSc and PhD students whose conferring ceremonies took place on Wednesday the 25th of March, and our best wishes to them in their future endeavours.

Well done to the following who were recently awarded funding for the prestigious Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarships to conduct research in the School of Chemistry. Congrats also to the supervisors and mentors. 

The final year BSc Chemistry with Forensic Science class went on tours of the State Laboratory and Forensic Science Ireland.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin presented the prestigious Research Ireland St Patrick’s Day Medal for 2026 to Prof Lynne Taylor, Retter Distinguished Professor of Pharmacy at Purdue University, and Dr Sarah O'Keeffe, Group Vice President for Product Research and Development at Eli Lilly and Company.

Public health coalition the Climate and Health Alliance (CHA) announced the publication of ‘Clean Air — Healthier Ireland’ at an event on Tuesday 17^th February in the Oireachtas.
