The 74th Irish Universities Chemistry Research Colloquium took place this past week in University of Galway.

The School of Chemistry is delighted to have two awardees of the Royal Society of Chemistry undergraduate research bursaries, Rebecca Henry and Jack Daly (BSc Chemical Science).

Viewing of scripts will take place on Monday 12th June 2023. Students who wish to view an Examination Script must complete an Application Form and return same by 12pm on Thursday 8th June 2023.

School of Chemistry lecturer, one of seven UCC projects awarded a combined €5,464,481 in the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Frontiers for the Future programme. Using a novel method, Dr Dean Venables' project will help to better understand the distribution of the traffic pollutant, nitrogen dioxide.

Climate scientists, the developers of the medicines of tomorrow, budding entrepreneurs and partners with communities were among the researchers to have their contributions to research and innovation honoured at the 2022 University College Cork (UCC) Research Awards, held at Devere Hall on Thursday, June 1.

The Dr Catherine Keogh Memorial Grant was awarded to Emily Goff, final year student in the Chemistry of Pharmaceutical Compounds degree programme at UCC.

The School of Chemistry is delighted that Ronan Brown (BSc Chemical Physics) has been accepted to take part in the Summer Lab Research programme of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen.

Thermo Fisher Scientific has awarded a University College Cork student with the first Thermo Fisher Scientific Prize in Organic Chemistry. Fourth year Chemistry student Ciara Millerick was presented with the inaugural award at the Annual UCC STEM Awards ceremony which took place on the UCC campus.

UCC celebrated the successes and achievements of students and staff of the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science (SEFS) at the annual UCC STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Awards held on 16 May.
