Consultation arrangements for students who failed Chemistry modules will take place on Monday June 15th.

Researchers in the Analytical & Biological Chemistry Research Facility (ABCRF) at UCC led by Anita Maguire, have designed and synthesised a new class of compounds with potential in the discovery of new antiviral drugs.

Minister for Skills, Research and Innovation, Damien English TD today announced over €30 million of research funding for 23 major research projects. The funding will be delivered by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation through the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Investigators Programme.

The 2015 Salters Festival of Chemistry took place in UCC today. Students from 14 schools took part in both The Salters Challenge and The University Challenge with prizes awarded to the top 3 schools in each category.

The RSC Organic Division Regional Symposium took place in UCC last Friday (April 17th).

This years Chemistry Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) leaders gave their informative and entertaining final presentations today, 31st March 2015, on topics ranging from alkanes, to enthalpy, to the Ideal Gas Laws.

The 2015 Irish Science Teachers Association conference took place in UCC last weekend with numerous contributions from staff and students from the Chemistry Department across the following areas.

Dr. Ranjeet Singh from the Sherlock Institute of Forensic Science (SIFS) visited The Department of Chemistry in UCC this week for three days as part of his invited trip to Ireland from India.

This afternoon saw thirteen Chemistry students graduate with a Ph.D. degree.
