PROPEL Pre-Entry Employability Module
WHAT IS THE UCC PROPEL PRE-ENTRY EMPLOYABILITY MODULE?
In February 2020, UCC Career Services launched the International Student Working Group to enhance employability for international students at UCC.
Listening to our international students, we identified key challenges in accessing career opportunities in Ireland. Through surveys and focus groups with current and recent students, we discovered that pre-entry preparation is crucial. Successful students arrive at UCC with an understanding of the Irish job market, employer expectations, and how to engage with employers. Early preparation is vital, as graduate recruitment often begins in September/October.
To address this need, we developed the UCC PROPEL Pre-Entry Employability Module for International Students. Available online to all international offer holders before they arrive at UCC, this module is designed to help students navigate the challenges of gaining employment and developing long-term employability while studying in Ireland.
The module includes three sequential units:
- Unit 1: Workplace Readiness Skills
- Unit 2: Prepare for the Irish Job Market
- Unit 3: Prepare to Engage with Employers
Each unit concludes with a short assignment that contributes to earning the UCC EmployAgility Award—a digital badge that can be added to your CV and LinkedIn profile.
