Photonics
The University has been successful in obtaining €4.48m from Science Foundation Ireland for the development of an Integrated Photonics Research Centre in the Lee Maltings. The project provided 900m2 of laboratory and office accommodation within the existing envelope of the protected structure.
Delivery of the project presents a significant number of challenges resulting from the protected status of the structure, restricted site access, proximity to adjacent operational academic and research activities and the funding window.
