Cork City Buses
Cork City Bus Services (Bus Eireann)
UCC is served by public transport by two City Bus routes (No 205 and No 208), connecting the campus to Cork City Centre via Washington and St Patrick Streets. Bus stops are located on College Road / O’Donovan’s Road (Route No 205) and Western Road (Route No 208).
City Bus routes serving UCC (see Map of City Bus Routes below):
No 205: Rossa Avenue C.I.T. – UCC (College Road) – Dyke Parade - Washington Street - St. Patrick Street – Parnell Place Bus Station / MacCurtain St – Kent Train Station (every 15 mins)
No 208: Curraheen (Marymount Hospice) – Bishopstown – City Centre (St. Patrick Street) – Mayfield – Ashmount – Lotabeg (every 10 mins during day time)
No 220 / 220X: Ovens – Ballincollig – Model Farm Rd – UCC Western Rd – City Centre – Douglas – Carrigaline – Crosshaven (every 15mins during daytime, 220X every 60mins)
Route No 216 buses serve Bandon Road at close walking distance to the Main Campus (O’Rahilly Building entrance).
Route No 219 buses (Southern Orbital) provide a link from Mahon / Douglas as far as the Lough (10 min walk to UCC) and further to Wilton and Bishopstown.
Local and Express services towards the West (e.g. Ballincollig, Macroom, Bandon, West Cork) stop on request on Western Road / Gaol Cross (inbound: for set down only; outbound: for pick up only).

Announcing a New Route 225 between Cork Airport & Haulbowline
- Brand new route offering a high frequency service to and from Cork Airport
- Services operating every 30 minutes throughout the day from Haulbowline – Ringaskiddy – Carrigaline, Ballygarvan and Cork Airport
Bus Éireann, in conjunction with the National Transport Authority (NTA) are pleased to announce the introduction of a new bus service, Route 225 linking Haulbowline – Ringaskiddy – Carrigaline and Cork Airport.
The new service will operate each day from 0400 until 0030, with the main benefits of the new service including:
New route offering high frequency services to and from Cork Airport
- Operating every 30 minutes throughout the day
- Connectivity between Carrigaline and Ringaskiddy
- Low entry, fully accessible vehicles
- Connections available from Cork Airport to Kinsale and city centre
- Connections available from Carrigaline to city centre – 24 hours
Relevant to UCC, the new route will provide direct connections from the UCC Beaufort lab to Carrigaline and the Airport. See Route 225 Timetable here

Also improvements on Route 216 from November 2019, now extended to Passage West and Monkstown, serving Glasheen Road (Close to Main Campus) and CUH. This bus runs every 30 mins.

Single tickets for city buses are available from the drivers (€2.40 or €1.68 with LeapCard).

Tax Saver Travel Passes for staff are offered per calendar year. Applications are due in early November.
