Energy Water and Climate Change
UCC was the first university worldwide to achieve the ISO 50001 standard for Energy Management and has been particularly successful in winning grant support from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) for energy saving initiatives. UCC Saver Saves scheme is also the first of its kind in Ireland, devolving power and responsibility to building users to drive energy savings within their areas, and reinvest savings in environmental projects.
UCC regularly calculates its carbon footprint and has made this information available via its STARS submission report. Work is underway to improve the accuracy of this calculation and determine a roadmap for the University to reduce its emissions in line with international science-based targets. UCC is also a leader in research and teaching on energy, water and climate change.
In this section you’ll find plenty of information on the ways you can get involved, as well as details on what’s happening already. You’ll also find guidance and resources, as well as all the latest news on energy conservation across the University.
