Byron aims to improve the quality of health services by developing and evaluating implementation strategies and advancing implementation research methods. He is Associate Dean for Research and Associate Professor at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis where he holds secondary appointments in the School of Public Health and the School of Medicine. He is the Co-Director of WashU’s Dissemination and Implementation Science Innovation Research Network, the Dissemination and Implementation Research Core, and the Centre for Mental Health Services Research. He holds adjunct appointments at University College Cork and UNSW Sydney​.

Byron’s research has been funded primarily by the U.S. National Institutes of Health. He has published more than 170 scientific journal articles, 11 chapters, and two books. Byron has been recognized as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher and a Stanford 
University-Elsevier’s World’s Top 2% Scientist. He has received numerous awards, including the Early Career Award from the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies Dissemination and Implementation Special Interest Group, a Fulbright Specialist Award, and a Provost’s Research Excellence Award from WashU. He is a member of the National Institutes of Health’s Science of Implementation in Health and Healthcare Study Section.


Byron is Past President of the Society for Implementation Research Collaboration, Co-
Editor-in-Chief of Implementation Research and Practice, and serves on the editorial board of Implementation Science. He teaches a course at WashU titled “Developing and 
Evaluating Implementation Strategies in Health and Social Services.” Byron is the Associate Director of the Implementation Research Institute and core faculty for the HIV, Infectious Disease and Global Health Implementation Research Institute, Training Institute for Dissemination and Implementation in Health-Australia, and Irish Implementation Science Training Institute.
