Study Title

APC176 - Effect of dietary plant protein for promotion of muscle repair and recovery after intense exercise

 

Study Description

In this study, we are investigating the effect of plant protein on recovery after physical exercise

 

Eligibility

- Healthy participants with active lifestyles aged between 18 & 35 years of age.

- Volunteers who have taken antibiotics in the past 3 months are excluded from taking part.

- Volunteers with egg, nut, milk, lentil, gluten, soy or mustard allergy are also excluded.

Study Requirements

What’s involved in participating.

Visits

2 visits plus a 12-week training programme at the Mardyke Arena UCC.

 

Timeline

Participation will be for a duration of approx. 13 weeks.

 

Procedure

- Participants will be asked to consume protein supplemented foods (plant or animal protein or placebo) throughout a 12-week exercise program.

- We will measure BMI, percentage body fat, and take part in muscle recovery assessment.

- We will take faecal & blood samples.
