University Of Antwerp Honours John Cryan

Honorary Doctorate Awarded To John Cryan

Many congrats to Prof. John F. Cryan who has been awarded an Honorary degree in Pharmaceutical, Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences by the University of Antwerp. Prof Jean-Pierre Timmermans delivered the Laudation at the conferring ceremony.

In total five eminent scientists received honorary doctorates, including world renowned American economist  Prof. Jeffery Sachs, Columbia University, New York, Prof Laurajane Smith, Australian National University, Prof Upendra Baxi, University of Warwick and Prof Michael D. Slater, Ohio State University.

The award recognises John’s research on the interaction between the brain, the gut and the microbiome and how this relates to stress and immune or psychological disorders.

The ceremony was preceded by Masterclasses led by the honorary doctors.  John’s Masterclass was titled “Gut Feelings – The Microbiota-Gut-Brain Axis in Physiology and Behaviour”
