APC Postdoc Day 2024
The APC Postdoc Day 2024 was held on Thursday, September 19th, during Postdoc Appreciation Week, in the Aula Maxima, University College Cork. This event was organized by the APC Postdoc Association - Chair: Elisa Di Stefano, Vice-Chair: Cristina Rosell Cardona, Treasurer: Mathieu Thabault, Vice-Treasurer: Jonathan Keane, Secretary: Clara Kampik, Public Relations Officer: Natalia, Social media representative: Valentine Turpin. The goal of this event was not only to highlight the outstanding and diverse research conducted by postdoctoral researchers within APC Microbiome Ireland but also to create a fruitful environment for postdocs to network and initiate collaborations with their peers.
The event allowed eleven postdocs to present their research to an audience that included postdocs, graduate students, senior researchers and APC Management. The goal of this event was also to present the multiple opportunities and amenities provided by APC such as Staff Wellbeing, SPRINT Programme, Science Communication but also planning for impact.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Hilary Browne, a recent ERC Starting Grant awardee from APC and the School of Microbiology, delivered an engaging presentation about his research journey, sharing valuable insights and advice with the audience. The day ended with the Best Presentation Award, presented to Dr. Natalia Soledad Rios by Paul Ross, who also offered closing remarks.
The APC Postdoc Day 2024 was a huge success, enhancing networking opportunities for postdocs and raising awareness of the community, resources, and opportunities available through APC Microbiome Ireland.
