26 students received awards at the College of Science, Engineering & Food Science (SEFS) Awards Ceremony last Friday, 31^st March 2017.  

Darren Reidy, a PhD student at UCC’s School of Biological, Earth & Environmental Sciences (BEES), has emerged as the winner of the thirteenth annual UCC Science for All competition.

Would you like to know more about your microbes or solar energy or the alien plants in our rivers and lakes?

These are just some of the exciting talks about cutting edge science which will be battling it out to win 1st place at the UCC Science for All Final Competition on the 5th of April. 

The final takes place in University College Cork’s Western Gateway Building lecture theatre G05 at 6.15pm on Wednesday, 5th April. All are welcome and admission is free. 

BEES PALAEONTOLOGY RESEARCH WINS INTERNATIONAL AWARD

Dr Barbara Doyle Prestwich and Dr Eoin Lettice with the International Association for Plant Biotechnology, School of BEES,  ERI and UCC are delighted to host two eminent plant scientists as part of Science Week in UCC.  

The UN Environment GEMS/Water Capacity Development Centre at UCC has attracted students from 12 countries for its new Postgraduate Diploma in Freshwater Quality Monitoring and Assessment.

The BEES Prizegiving 2017 took place recently at the School of Biological Earth and Environmental Sciences.

Two out of three SFI Investigator awards won by UCC are going to BEES academics.

Last week saw the launch of new research projects funded under Science Foundation Ireland’s Investigators Programme awards. This year, the awards include two projects co-funded by SFI, Geological Survey Ireland (GSI) and the Marine Institute (MI) including one led by Prof. Andy Wheeler.
