CARING & EDUCATING FOR DEMOCRACY

Members of the Scenario Team have taken on a leading role in a project entitled 

Performative Approaches to Education for Democracy in third level and community contexts, with a specific focus on third level education in India, Ireland and Malawi

It is based on the premise that democracy is not a theoretical construct that exists by itself; democracy only exists through people who live it and help to shape it by thinking and acting. 

As populist movements, across and beyond Europe, are increasingly destabilising democratic societies, we feel there is an urgent need for educational institutions to critically examine their policies and curricula and, ideally, develop models of performative practice that foster democratic agency.

We would now like to invite scholars, teachers, artists and practitioners in the Scenario community to support this initiative. It would be greatly appreciated if you shared your perspectives by filling in this form:
