UCC awarded funding under PATH 4
UCC was delighted to be awarded €1.7million in funding under the fourth national Programme for Access to Higher Education (PATH 4), to expand and further develop its course offerings for for students with intellectual disabilities (ID).
Announcing the awards on 9th February, Minister Simon Harris said, “People with intellectual disabilities must be empowered to continue their education journey after school, to grow, develop, gain confidence & choose their next steps… We can leave nobody behind. Education is for everyone, it needs to be provided in a way that works for everyone”.
The funding is an acknowledgement of the excellent work ongoing at UCC for students with ID, with two courses offered under the umbrella of the id+ Project. Part of the funding is to support the university's wider commitment to Inclusive Learning which involves staff across all the colleges in initiatives that enhance learning opportunities for all the student body. The ID+ Futures project is sponsored by the Deputy President and Registrar Prof. Stephen Byrne.
