INVITATION TO RecoNow CONFERENCES

'Recognition of qualifications and internationalisation of higher education in the Euro-Mediterranean Region'

University of Petra – Amman, Jordan - 07 April 2016

University of Bologna – Bologna, Italy – 10 May 2016

As part of EU-funded programmes, there are now many opportunities for students and staff to develop new collaborations and study abroad opportunities with universities in other countries. These opportunities benefit both students and academics by opening up cross-border access to a variety of learning and teaching opportunities. The programmes also benefit the institutions involved by introducing a more internationalised environment and increasing contact with international networks.

To enable and support mobile and international students in taking advantage of these opportunities, universities and public authorities in charge of higher education have to have exchange processes which facilitate understanding of the reciprocal university systems, qualifications and related awards and documents.

The EU-funded Tempus project RECONOW focuses on this challenge and on developing tools and practices to support universities, higher education ministries, national credential evaluation centres and the higher education community, with a particular focus on the Euro-Mediterranean higher education community, and how to enhance recognition and accreditation practices in this area.  This is particularly relevant as the universities in the Euro-Mediterranean Region provide great opportunities to study abroad in one of the EU or Southern Mediterranean countries.

The main outcomes of the RecoNow Project will be presented during two final conferences in Jordan and Italy in April and May, 2016, respectively. Both conferences will include a morning plenary session with international experts and several afternoon workshops.
