QA@PHEP study April 2011

A study visit took place at UCC in April 2011 under the framework of the QA@PHEPs project ‘Supporting and Developing the Structures for the Quality Assurance at the Private Higher Education Institutions’. The study group comprised 13 people, mainly Quality Assurance Officers and/or management representatives of the Private Higher Education Providers (PHEPs) in Kosovo, as well as WUS Austria. The aim of the project was to introduce and enhance Quality Assurance (QA) in the higher education system in Kosovo, in accordance with the goals of the 'Strategy for the Development of Higher Education in Kosova (2005-2015)'. Furthermore, the goal of the project was to establish and strengthen the quality assurance at the ten Kosovar private higher education providers (PHEPs). In this regard all PHEPs receive support for establishing new QA units or for improving their already established QA offices/centres/units. The experiences, expertise and best practice models of the EU partners on QA represents the main tool to achieve the overall project objectives. The establishment of sustainable quality assurance systems at all PHEPs will facilitate them in raising the quality of teaching, learning and the administration processes, through the training of QA experts at all PHEPs.

Quality Assurance at the Private Higher Education Providers

Project: QA@PHEPs ‘Supporting and Developing the Structures for the Quality Assurance at the Private Higher Education Providers’

In order for Kosovo to successfully integrate into the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) it is considered vital that the country incorporate the standards and principles that have been set out and agreed by the 47 countries who have signed up to the Bologna Process, including all countries of the European Union. These standards and principles include the key objectives of ensuring high standards in the quality of teaching and scientific research in higher education providers.

The project ‘Supporting and Developing the Structures for QA at the Private Higher Education Institutions in Kosova’ is to introduce and enhance quality standards and mechanisms at the Private Higher Education Providers (PHEPs) in Kosova in order to facilitate comparability, credibility and Quality Assurance practices in accordance with the Bologna principles and the 'Strategy for the Development of Higher Education in Kosova (2005-2015)'.
