Older Person Rehabilitation

Older Person Rehabilitation
The Continuing Professional Development Modules in Older Person Rehabilitation are designed to provide students from a range of different professional backgrounds with interdisciplinary learning in an area of Older Person Rehabilitation. Classes are held in blocks during weekdays. A ten-credit module equates to 200-250 hours of learning, including approximately 40-50 hours of structured contact time.

Entry Requirements
Candidates must have:

1. A primary degree in a relevant health care discipline* or an equivalent academic qualification and professional experience to be approved by the Programme Team;
2. Ideally candidates should have at least one year's practical experience in their area of qualifications post-registration.
3. Applicants who do not meet the normal academic or experience requirements may also be considered following a review of their individual qualifications and experience by the Programme Team.

*A relevant health care discipline includes but is not limited to medicine, nursing, pharmacy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, audiology, physiotherapy, psychology and social studies.

All applicants are required to complete an application form and provide evidence of current professional registration.

Students may take one or more modules (to a maximum of twenty credits per year) from the following:

CG6005 Amputee and Prosthetic Rehabilitation   (5 ECTS Credits)

CG6009 Principles in Older Person Rehabilitation   (10 ECTS Credits)

CG6002 Stroke Rehabilitation (requires Garda Vetting clearance)   (10 ECTS Credits)

CG6006 Falls, Mobility and Movement Disorders   (10 ECTS Credits)

CG6012 Neuromuscular Disorder   (10 ECTS Credits)

IP5001 Holistic Approach to Palliative Care (5 ECTS Credits)

Dementia

Classes are held in day blocks, during weekdays. A ten-credit module equates to 200-250 hours of learning, including approximately 40-50 hours of structured contact time.

2. Ideally candidates should have at least one year's practical experience in their area of qualification post-registration;
