The College of Medicine and Health, in conjunction with the INFANT Centre (Irish Centre for Fetal and Neonatal Translational Research), annual Research day was held on Tuesday 16th June 2015 at Brookfield Health Sciences Complex, UCC.

Friday, May 29^th has seen 171 students from across the four corners of the globe end their undergraduate education in University College Cork as they are awarded Honours Degrees in Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics.

The HRB-Trials Methodology Research Network  held a national article writing competition to mark International Clinical Trials Day on May 20th 2015. 

The Severe Maternal Morbidity in Ireland Annual Report 2012 and 2013 is the second report from the National Perinatal Epidemiology Centre’s (NPEC) national clinical audit on this topic.

Tuesday 5^th May is World Hand Hygiene Day, and coincides with an announcement from the Health Innovation Hub regarding the launch of an Infection Prevention and Hygiene Management study at South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital and University Hospital Waterford.

HRB-funded researchers at University College Cork have found people with multimorbidity (that is two or more chronic diseases at the same time) were more likely to report having adverse experiences in childhood than people without multimorbidity.

University College Cork's School of Pharmacy, and Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, have today been positioned amongst the world’s top fifty programmes by QS – Publisher of international university rankings.

Cork University Hospital (CUH) has become the first hospital in Europe to initiate a novel prostate cancer clinical trial and is starting to assign a random tablet to men on the trial.

Dr Denis O’Mahony, Senior Lecturer and Consultant Geriatrician in the Department of Medicine at UCC, has received news that OPERAM, of which he is a Co-Principle Investigator, will be the beneficiary of a €3.735 million grant from the European Commission.
