UCC Campus

Overview

UCC has over 100 societies and sports clubs to choose from students at UCC never get bored. Students can try something new or revive a previous interest.  Activities range from trampolining to martial arts. A community atmosphere on campus is driven by societies such as the UCC Hot Beverages Appreciation Society and UCC Polytunnels who encourage you to grow your own vegetables and drink tea together. Students can also avail of excellent free sporting facilities and join teams which help integration into our university.  To help you navigate your way through the practical aspects of studying at UCC and living in Cork the International Office is happy to provide some basic information and guidelines on different day to day activities.  We hope you find it useful.

Clubs

There is a huge variety of sporting choices for you to get involved in. Whether it is competitive or recreational, participation in sporting activities is a great way to immerse yourself in the college scene, as well as a fun way to keep fit and healthy.

We have a wide range of traditional field sports such as soccer, rugby and GAA, exciting water sports such as canoeing, surfing and sailing, to alternative modern sports. The most difficult decision you face is deciding which club to join.

Societies

UCC Societies are social groups based on shared, non-athletic interests. Joining a society during your years at college is one of the best decisions you will ever make. It’s also one of the easiest because no matter who you are or what your tastes, there will be a society to suit you.

Societies are student run and have always been a vital part of the student experience on offer in UCC. They help you to learn new skills, nurture old hobbies, make new friends, take on responsibility, acquire transferable skills and, of course, have lots of fun. Joining a society will enhance your college experience like nothing else. You will meet like-minded people and have opportunities to do and see things from a different perspective.

With so much choice the best option is to dive right in and try everything!
