General Information for students
Taking German as a subject
The College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences, UCC, where the Department of German is based, is committed to offering students opportunities to study a wide range of subjects through its suite of degree programmes. Whether you would like to combine German with e.g. Music, Phsychology or English, you will certainly find your preferred combination. The following degrees offer German as a degree-level subject:

- BComm International with German (CK206)
Please note that we expect students to attend 80% of their classes. Failure to attend these 80% may result in exclusion from examinations. You will be advised accordingly by your language teachers und lecturers.
Third Year Abroad
For students who choose a 4-year-degree, the third year is spent abroad at one of our ERASMUS partner universities. The advantages of the year abroad are, amongst others, to:
- Study at a German or Austrian University
- Live in Germany or Austria for a full academic year
- Expand language skills
- Gain experience and maturity
- Become more independent and adaptable
- and to gain advanages for employment
