UCC Biochemistry and Biotechnology Society charity event raises EUR 2300 for Pieta House.
UCC Biochemistry and Biotechnology Society present a cheque for EUR 2300 to Pieta House representative, Mr Pat Duffy.
Following the charity bake sale and raffle in aid of Pieta House, the Biochemistry and Biotechnology society were delighted to raise €2330.
On the 3rd February, members of the Biochemistry and Biotechnology society committee presented a cheque for €2330 to Mr Pat Duffy, Volunteer andv Fundraising Department, Pieta House, Bishopstown, Cork. Pieta House is a suicide and self-harm crisis centre, which first opened in Lucan, Co. Dublin in 2006 by Joan Freeman. Joan recognised the need for a suicide prevention service at the time and today with nine centres throughout Ireland, Pieta House provides a professional, one-to-one therapeutic service for those who are experiencing suicidal ideation or engaging in self-harm. A doctor’s referral is not required and the service is completely free of charge.
To date, Pieta House has supported more than 15,000 people, with more than 4,000 of those seeking help in 2014.
Thanks once again to everyone who supported this fund raising event, for such a worthy cause and made it such a success. Your support is very much appreciated by the Biochemistry and Biotechnology society committee members and all at Pieta House.
