SEFS Undergraduate Quercus Scholarships
The College of Science, Engineering and Food Science (SEFS) held a presentation ceremony on Friday, 31 May 2017 to celebrate the accomplishments of undergraduate students, who have been awarded a Quercus College Scholarship.
Three of the students presented with scholarships, based on their Summer 2016 examination results, are students completing programmes associated with the School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology.
Carolyn Murray, a fourth year Biochemistry student and Alanna Dunlea and James Harte Biomedical Science students, were presented with a Quercus College Scholarship. Carolyn, Alanna and James were awarded same in recognition of their exceptional results in third year Biochemistry, and third and first year Biomedical Science respectively. The BSc Biomedical Science programme is a jointly run programme with our colleagues in the Cork Institute of Technology (CIT).
The presentations of the Quercus College Scholarships were made by Professor Paul Ross, Head of College of Science, Engineering and Food Science (SEFS) and followed by a reception for students, parents and staff in the Creative Zone in the Boole Library.

Staff from the School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, in attendance at the awards ceremony were: Dr Sinéad Kerins, Biochemistry Programme Coordinator and Biomedical Science Programme Deputy Director; Dr Paul Young, Biomedical Science Board of Studies and College of SEFS Teaching Learning and Student Experience Committee member; and Dr Justin McCarthy, Associate Dean of Graduate Studies, College of Science, Engineering & Food Science.
