BYCW student Shauna Pumphrey awarded inaugural Fórsa Bursary

24 Jan 2024

Congratulations to Shauna Pumphrey on being awarded the Finbarr O’Driscoll Memorial Bursary of the Cork branch of the Fórsa Trade Union. Shauna is a final year student on the BSocSc (Youth and Community Work) degree programme.

Shauna is an accomplished youth worker and musician with a significant interest in and experience of working with young people in the area of music and music education. For the last two years she has completed her work placement in The East Cork Music Project in Midleton, where she is also employed. The East Cork Music Project offers social education, skills training, apprenticeships and musical education to young people who have left school without qualifications and who are interested in pursuing careers in music or related areas. This successful project was originally established by Clare Seymour, a graduate of our BSocSc (Youth and Community Work).

With much thanks to the Cork branch of Fórsa for this funding in support of Shauna and the BSocSc (Youth and Community Work) programme.
