Academic Secretariat

The Academic Secretariat has responsibility for co-ordinating the academic business of the University.  In that regard it is responsible for the:

  • Primary point of contact for internal and external queries relating to the responsibilities of the Registrar and Senior Vice President Academic and the Academic Secretary
  • Provision of secretariat services to Academic Council and its committees
  • Development and implementation of systems and procedures to support the effective discharge of the University’s academic governance arrangements
  • Co-ordination of submissions in response to national initiatives
  • Facilitating the transaction of academic business between Colleges/Faculties, Academic Council, Governing Body and National University of Ireland (NUI) Senate
  • Engages with the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and other external bodies on academic issues
  • External Examiner (taught programmes) administration
