Division 1
The UCC v NUIG game started as planned at 2pm but the Galway captain took a knock to the head 5 minutes in. The game was stopped and the injured girl treated. We are glad to say the Galway girl is doing well after a night in hospital and getting home to Galway. The game was suspended and will be rescheduled for a future date. This leaves Division 1 with 2 matches to play in the EYHL2 and the elusive semi final place to be decided. Division 3
Division 3 were the first game in the Mardyke on Saturday morning when they played Waterford in the semi final of the Division 3 Munster Cup. They had a comprehensive 5-1 win with goals coming from Aisling Coffey, Kirsten Brown, Jill Roberts, Niamh Casey and Katie O'Keeffe. They will play C of I in the final of the cup at the end of April. Between now and then they still have 3 league games against Bandon, Tipperary and Clonakilty. A third place finish will give them a play off opportunity to be promoted to Division 2.
Division 2 and Irish Junior Cup
Division 2 played away to Cork Harlequins on Sunday in the Munster League. They won 1-3 with goals from Isobel Kingston and Feena O'Leary (2). With only one game left in the Division 2 League UCC are assured 2nd place below a very strong Catholic Institute team. They look forward to their semi final game in the Irish Junior Cup this Saturday against Dublin club Loreto who travel to the Mardyke. Tip off 1pm. UCC play Ashton in the semi final of their Munster Cup on the 24th March in the Mardyke.
Division 5
Division 5 suffered a 0-2 loss to Bandon on Sunday in the league. While UCC are currently 2nd with only a point between them and Crescent, one match left for each team will decide who wins the league outright. The winner will be automatically promoted to Division 4 and we have to wait until the EYHL2 playoffs to know second places' fate. There are a series of permutations and combinations deciding how the lower divisions will sort promotion. We will have to wait and see !
