UCC Hockey started their match weekend on Thursday with a rescheduled game for the men against Ashton. It was another miserable evening but the game proceeded. UCC struggled at times in the first half and a 4-0 scoreline against them reflected the play. However goals from Keanu Spencer and Theja Ghuge  gave new hope to the student side in the third quarter. However 2 more goals from the Ashton side brought a final score of 6-2 to the home side. The men's next game will be against Bandon away on the 3rd November, 12pm tip off.

The Division 2 side (pictured) travelled to Belfast to take on CI Ladies in the Irish Junior Cup 1st round. A game they were in control of throughout, the student side came away with a 2-1 victory with goals from Isabelle Martin and Nicole Clarke. Next game for the Division 2 side is Munster league against Clonakilty, away on the 3rd November.

EYHL1 continued on Saturday with Round 6 of the league. The students had a productive weekend last week with 4 points out of 6 up North and were hoping to build on this success going into their home game against Dublin side, Pembroke.

UCC started off well showing great dominance and scored in the 5th minute with a goal from captain Jane Murphy following a penalty corner. The students played a good game for most of the match but hitting the post, missing a clear open goal and missing a penalty stroke failed to consolidate their lead until the 51st minute. Another corner and another goal for the UCC side with Bethanne O Farrell slotting the ball home. In the driving seat going into the final quarter UCC just needed to close it out for the full 3 points. However Pembroke didn't give up and with a quick sideline ball across the circle, slotted the ball in on the 60th minute giving hope to the Dublin side. They continued to pressurise throughout this quarter and scored in the 69th minute to force a draw. FT 2-2. As with all drawn games a shuttle competition followed and UCC took the bonus point with goals from Bethanne O Farrell and Julia McCarthy. The students will be disappointed with the final result as they had the winning of the game. A big game against UCD next weekend in Dublin !

It was a weekend off for the Division 3 and 4 sides. They both play their first Munster league games next weekend. Division 3 play Waterford at home on Saturday at 12pm and Division 4 play Blackrock on Sunday away.
