Read on to find out more about the latest news from UCC Hockey.

Last weekend saw the W1sts travel to UCD. Starting off the  better side, UCD scored against the run of play with a reverse stick cracker from Leah O Shea. The Cork students had an 8 corner v 1 corner count. UCD converted their chances better with a 4-2 victory. Scores for UCC came through a penalty stroke conversion for Julia McCarthy and a goal from Robyn Murphy. UCC are bottom of the table but with only 6 points between 3rd place and the bottom, every game counts. This Saturday, UCC plays second place Old Alex at the Mardyke, tip off 1pm.

The men travelled to Bandon last weekend and had a tough loss against a very good Division 2 Bandon side. The team also played in the Inter-Varsity Plate competition in Galway, hosted by University of Galway. Games against DCU, UG and TUD and some good fun were the order of the day. Guest appearances by students Harry Jackson, Luke Sweetnam and Ben Horgan brought some new blood to the side. The students have a weekend off and will regroup next week.

Division 2 W travelled to Clonakilty and it was another goal fest for the strong student side. Another 7 goals puts UCC second on the league table with games in hand. They take on league leaders Blackrock this weekend and it should be a better matched game for UCC so far this season. Game tips off on Saturday at 1pm in Blackrock.

The Division 3 W side welcomed Waterford to the Mardyke last Sunday for their first league game of the season. The team scored 7 goals with a hat trick for Eve O Shea. Coach Jim White was really pleased with the team's performance and looks forward to seeing the team’s progress over the season. The team travel to Limerick next Saturday with tip off at 2pm.

Division 4 W played away to Blackrock last Sunday. While the team were the better side from the start it wasn't until the 3rd quarter they got their first score. Goals came from Captain Aoife Nixon, Poppy McKeown and Georgia Billinghurst. The team play Midleton away next Sunday and will be hoping to put another 3 points on the table.
