UCC Hockey Club – Weekend Roundup: 4 Wins from 4
Last weekend delivered a fantastic set of results for UCC Hockey, with four wins from four across the club. Here’s how each team got on
🏑 Division 7 – Cup Semi-Final Win
Div 7 got the weekend off to a flying start at home to Clonmel. In warm conditions, both teams took time to settle in the first quarter, but once UCC found their rhythm, they were emphatic:
UCC 5 – 1 Clonmel
They now look ahead to the Cup Final at the end of April, where they will face Nenagh.
Nenagh and Crescent currently share top spot in the league (Crescent ahead on goal difference), with UCC sitting third and two league games remaining.
Next up: vs Midleton, Saturday at 10:30am, at home.
🏑 Women’s Division 1 – Perfect League Season
The Div 1 Women wrapped up their league campaign in style with a 5–0 win over CIAC.
Their league record is outstanding:
✅ 100% win record
✅ 42 points
✅ 65 goals scored
✅ Only 6 conceded
They now turn their focus back to EYHL2, hosting Cork Harlequins this Saturday at 3pm in the Mardyke. With just three games to go, the table is tightening—4–5 teams remain in contention, but only two promotion spots are available. Every game counts.
🏑 Division 3A – Another Final Secured
The Div 3A side continued their remarkable season with a 2–0 semi‑final win away to Ashton.
This group has already won two titles this year and is widely considered one of the outstanding UCC and Munster teams of the season.
They play Bandon on Sunday 22 March at 12pm, their second‑last league game before finishing with Limerick.
With 12 wins from 12, they have already won the league, so while there’s little at stake points-wise, momentum remains high heading into their Cup Final at the end of April.
🏑 Men – Into a Major Final
The Men’s team delivered a huge result in the McClean Cup semi-final, beating Midleton 3–2 in a heated contest that featured plenty of cards.
This is a significant milestone:
✅ Reaching their first final in several years
✅ Achieved just two seasons after having no men’s team at all
Their busy weekend ahead includes:
- Saturday, 12:45pm vs C of I C – Munster Junior Cup Semi-Final
- Sunday, 3pm vs CIAC (Limerick) – Final league game
A massive weekend awaits as they aim to continue this brilliant progress.
