Last weekend’s fixtures we disrupted, leading to several postponements and schedule changes across our teams. Here's how our squads are shaping up as they prepare for upcoming challenges before the Christmas break.
Last weekend due to Storm Darragh some of our fixtures were affected.
The final EYHL1 game before Christmas against Loreto was postponed and has been rescheduled for Saturday 5th April 2025. The team will enjoy a deserved rest and will make their return to EY on the 1st February when they will play UCD at home. They will be under pressure to pick up some points to maintain EYHL1 status.
The men's game against C of I B was also postponed. This weekend they play Cork Harlequins at 4.30pm on Sunday at Harlequin Park. They play one more game before the Christmas break next Thursday 19th December against Cork Harlequins B at the Mardyke at 8.15pm, to catch up on a postponed game earlier in the season. The men have had a tough season so far but they look forward to the second half of the season in the new year.
Division 2, 3 and 4 all play their last games in the Munster League before the Christmas break this weekend.
Division 2 had a 4-0 win against Clonakilty last weekend, stretching their lead on the Munster League table to 25 points with 9 games played. This weekend they look forward to playing Cork Harlequins at the Mardyke on Sunday, 12pm tip off. In the new year they look forward to playing in the Cork Examiner Cup, which will be a good test of the standard of this team. They will also play Pembroke in the first round of the Irish Junior Cup on the 25th January at the Mardyke. Reaching the semi final stages last year they will hope to go one step closer this season.
Division 3 play Cashel/New Inn for the first time this Saturday, in the Mardyke, tip off 12pm. So far this team has had only one real blip with a 3-0 loss to Limerick away. They will hope to finish off the first half of the season with a win. Last weekend they got a crucial 1-0 win against Bandon. This sees them currently top of the league with 13 points. Limerick have 10 points with a game in hand, and looking at the rest of the table, a very competitive league this season.
Division 4 had a tough 1-0 loss to Dungarvan last weekend. The game on the grit did not suit the student side. Although the better team UCC couldn't score and Dungarvan scored a break away goal in the final minutes of the game. This weekend the team play Belvedere in Ballincollig, tip off 12pm. The team are 2nd in the league behind Tipperary who have a better goal difference. UCC still have to play Tipperary which was postponed earlier in the season due to bad weather. With 4 teams on 10 points, it is hard to say yet who will come out on top of this league.
