UCC Launches new BSc in Sustainability

23 Jan 2026

UCC is launching a new BSc in Sustainability this September, designed for students who want to understand and help shape how we respond to the great sustainability challenges we face, including climate change, biodiversity loss, inequality and economic transformation with Prof Hannah Daly as Programme Director

The degree is genuinely innovative and unique. This is not a narrow environmental science degree, and it’s not just “green business”. It’s a deliberately interdisciplinary programme for students who want options, and who want their degree to matter in the world they’re graduating into.

It includes a common entry year that builds a strong foundation across climate science, society, ethics, law, health and economics, and maintains a strong focus on interdisciplinary and collaboration throughout. From second year, students will be able to specialise in one of three streams:Sustainability, Science & Climate Action; Sustainability, Society & Culture, and Sustainable Business & the Circular Economy.

I’d really appreciate you sharing this in your networks, especially if you know a Leaving Certificate student, or their parents, who this degree might suit.
