Evidence Informed Policy Making at the European Commission
Brian shared EPMG experience on evidence informed policy making at the European Commission Joint Research Centre
Thanks to the European Commission Joint_Research_Centre for hosting the wonderful Evidence Informed Policy Making Community of Practice gatheirng yesterday.
It was really excellent to learn from a range different perspectives from universities, research councils and government departments on the experiences, processes and insights drawn from different Member States in how to effectively bridge between the research ecosystem and policy ecosystem to improve policy development.
While improving policy formation is a benefit in its own right, it is also critically important in addressing the growing threats to democracy.
Brian had the great pleasure in catching up with experts in this field from Team Ireland at the event (Elizabeth Canavan, Leonora Harty, Jennifer Brennan, Ciara Cotter and #John_O'Connor).
It was also wonderful to meet in person with other members of the growing EIPM Community of Practice (Jonathan Gomez-Raja, Elias Kock, Anne-Greet Keizer, Jim Dratwa, Thomas Starlinger, Josep Lobera, Mirva Keckman, Tekla Emborg).
Brian shared our experiences in Ireland over the past 20 years at UCC Sustainability Institute, where we have translated our research results into policy evidence and engaged with government departments, public bodies, parliamentary committees and politicians, enabling us to inform, underpin and co-produce energy and climate policy.
