Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting Selection

Congratulations To María Ángeles Núñez Sánchez

Many congratulations to María Ángeles Núñez Sánchez on being selected out of over 20,000 applicants to attend the 2020 Lindau Nobel Laureate meeting this summer. This interdisciplinary event brings together the three natural science Nobel Prize disciplines — physiology and medicine, physics, and chemistry. She will join 660 excellent young scientists from all over the world to meet around 70 Nobel Laureates for cross generational and interdisciplinary exchange. She will get the opportunity to have informal lunches with Nobel Laureates in small groups, go for walks, participate in Master classes and gain exposure / mentoring from some of the brightest scientific minds.

The scientific programme of each Lindau Meeting is based on the principle of dialogue. The different sessions – lectures, discussions, Master Classes, and panel discussions – are designed to activate the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and experience between and among Nobel Laureates and young scientists.

Maria is currently a Marie Curie Fellow at APC Microbiome Ireland where her research within the BESIDE project focuses on studying how secondary bile acids derived from microbial metabolism, affect the differentiation and maturation of the gastrointestinal trach in early life. Maria also participate in APC’s Education and Public Engagement programme  where she coordinates Native Scientist project in Spanish since 2017 and has been local media coordinator and speaker at Pint of Science Ireland. She has also participated in the “Jóvenes Científicos” programme held by the Spanish Research Council and have given talks at other Spanish Universities.

Maria obtained her PhD in Biochemistry at the Universidad de Murcia in 2016 following Masters in Advance Biotechnology at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and a BSc in Biochemistry at Univerisdad of Murcia.
