This year’s theme “Break the silence – IBD and Well-being” will raise awareness on how IBD affects people not only physically but also their general well-being. Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is the umbrella term for Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. It is an invisible disease that has a huge impact on a person's quality of life. More than 10 million people globally are affected by IBD (over 40,000 in Ireland alone). APC are hosting a free public webinar on Wednesday 19 May 2021 from 7pm - 8 pm for anyone seeking information on IBD and how to manage IBD symptoms. The event will include bite-sized talks from researchers, gastroenterologists, and nurses as well as those with lived experience of IBD. Everyone is welcome to attend and are invited to submit questions to our panel of speakers both on registration or using the virtual Q&A box during the live event. APC Microbiome Ireland is an SFI research centre conducting world-leading research invested in improving patient health by investigating the causes of IBD and the factors that affect disease severity, as well as developing new therapies.
